Jim sent this potted history:
From Halton posted to 57 Sqdn RAF Honnington on Victor Mk1As with many detachments to RAF Tengah and RAAF Darwin.
1965 - Aircrew Training - Air Electronic Operator RAF Topcliffe, then station flight at Topcliffe.
1967 - RAF St Mawgan, 236 OCU Shackelton, then RAF Ballykelly, 210 Sqdn Shackelton.
1969 - RAF St Mawgan, 42 Sqdn Nimrod.
1973 - left RAF to join ICI in the Metal Engineering Division. Moved from Padstow to Bristol which remains the location of the family home to date.
1975 - joined Cape Industries, Brake and Hydraulic Engineering, progressing to Sales Director.
1985 - set up a company specialising in brake products for heavy industrial vehicles and specialist vehicles and machinery. Still running the company (much to my wife’s annoyance) with my son with worldwide business.
Outside of work, very involved with Bristol Rugby, now re-branded as Bristol Bears. Still into cars and I remember fondly the Frog Eye Sprite that I had at Halton. My wife requires a bit more luxury nowadays than that car offered.
Jim’s brother-in-law was 88th Entry and encouraged Jim to make contact.
